Serving The Fort McMurray Wildfire Victims

In the spring of 2016, Fort McMurray, Alberta, was devastated by severe wildfires. Tens of thousands of residents were forced to evacuate to supporting communities around the province. For those who lost everything and needed a helping hand to get started building new lives, Canadians from every region stepped forward with donations of all kinds. In the days, weeks and months that followed, countless person-hours were donated to move the donations to the unfortunate Fort McMurray evacuees, wherever they were temporarily housed.

In Edmonton, the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society did what they do best by organizing thousands of volunteers and many tonnes of donated supplies. This small group of people become an essential part of central Alberta's emergency response to this disaster by gathering and distributing the basic supplies that would help to ease the burden of so many.

Intech NDE was fortunate to be able to participate in the relief efforts by providing paid leave for staff members who had committed their time and energy to the emergency response. Those who took part were humbled by the experience, but they were also grateful for the chance to make a difference to those in need.
